Fir elves in a wooden box with Christmas roses
CHEERFUL CHRISTMAS ROSE DECORATION WITH GOBLIN MADE OF SPRUCE IN A WOODEN BOX

In our instructions, we like to create miniature landscapes using different plants and components. Play a little with the lengths and bundled twigs will look like miniature fir trees. The Christmas Rose flowers can be the stars in the sky shining above a cute little ceramic home. If you like to bring a smile to people's faces, you could go for topping off the little firs with pointed hats made of moss. You could go on to decorate the little firs in the hat with Christmas glitter balls (noses) and some cotton (beard) to have a fir goblin around the house.

    POTTING SOIL

  • Step 1 Fill the white wooden box with soil.

    Fill a rectangular wooden box with potting soil from your favourite garden centre. Depending on the type of box, you may need to line it with plastic film to avoid water leaking from the box when you water the plants.

    Step 2 Cut needle branches into small pieces and wrap around the branch with wire

    Make the little fir trees in the hat. Use secateurs to cut needle twigs into pieces of different lengths and, starting with the long pieces, tie each of them to the branch with the green wire.

    Step 3 Form a pointed hat with moss.

    Use moss to make the pointed hat at the top of the little tree.

    Step 4 Fix the moss with wire.

    Wrap moss with wire. Wrap loosely enough to ensure the moss can still be shaped and conceals the wire.

    Step 5 Place the pointed hat tree in the wooden box.

    Put the little fir trees in the hat into the box and fix with rocks as needed if the potting soil alone does not provide enough support.

    Step 6 Use the Christmas rose and companion plants.

    Once the little trees are securely in place, add and plant the Christmas Rose and other, if possible low-growing accompanying plants. For a more harmonious picture, plant taller plants in the background.

    Step 7 Put moss on the ground.

    Cover any visible potting soil with moss to create a nice forest soil or a clearing that will accommodate the little ceramic home.

    Finished! {f:if(condition:'Decorate the white box with a star and you're done!',then:'Decorate the white box with a star and you're done!', else:'Wooden box with Christmas Roses')}

    If you wish, top off the decoration with a macramé ribbon and a matching decorative star. You may also want to attach holiday lights to the little fir trees in the hat.
