Felt pot with Christmas Roses to give away

Floral season's greetings

The days are getting shorter, the coats longer and the sweaters cuddlier. The period leading up to Christmas means it's time to snuggle up! When the autumn/winter season starts, we look forward to cosy warmth and soft materials. When this happens, we want to see these favourite qualities not only in our clothes but also in seasonal decoration. Candlelight as well as agreeable natural materials such as wool, wood, moss and felt create a comfy environment in the cold season. This is why we crafted a cosy felt cover for our glass flower pot.

MATERIAL MATERIAL

Christmas Rose, glass jar or other planter, felt in two different colours, threads in matching colours, needle and scissors, fibrefill, hot glue gun or craft glue, perhaps a template, wooden sticks for the stick-in star
STEP 1 STEP 1

Draw a star shape on the felt freehand or use a template and cut out.
STEP 2 STEP 2

Cut a strip of felt to fit the height of the jar or planter, fold around the jar/planter and glue fabric to fabric to make a sleeve.
Step 3 Step 3

Sew the felt star you cut out earlier to the felt sleeve by hand making rough stitches. Alternatively, attach the felt star with glue.
STEP 4 STEP 4

For the decorative stick-in star, simply cut out two stars of identical size and sow them together, leaving a hole for the fibrefill. Once you have stuffed the star with fibrefill and closed the gap with a few stitches, carefully push the wooden stick in between the seams.
FINISHED FINISHED

Slip the finished sleeve over the jar/planter, put in the Christmas Rose, stick the decorative star into the growing medium – and there's your festive cosy flower greeting!
